AAU Grand Nationals 2011

The Yorkville Judo Club had a heavy load of hardware to bring home from Kansas City Mo. and Boston MA. winning 6 Gold medals, 2 Silver medals, 2 Bronze medals and 2 fourth places finishes.Brothers Kyle and Cory Clausen began the AAU Grand Nationals in Kansas City Mo. by entering the technique division of the tournament, in which a series of nine judo throws had to be presented and evaluated by a panel of judges. Kyle won the Gold and Cory won the Silver, outscoring the nearest competitors by nearly one hundred points. The winning continued the next day as the youngest Clausen, Keith took the Bronze medal in the 11-12 year old division. Kyle Clausen earned the Silver medal in the Collegiate under 180 lb.losing only one match. In the Senior Elite under 160 Lb. division,Kyle suffered an injury and ended his day by placing 4th. Cory Clausen entered two divisions winning Gold in the Collegiate under 180 lb. division and placing 4th in the under 180 lb. Senior Elite division. Ricky Undesser won the Bronze medal in the 9-10 year old division. The youngest player for the Yorkville Judo Club six year old Andrew Undesser entered two divisions and not only went undefeated during the tournament but he was not even scored upon. Andrew won all five matches by Ippon(full point win) and won two gold medals. The team was coached at the tournament by 3rd degree black belt Richard Undesser. Two Yorkville players Austin Cavanaugh and Brandon Brown traveled to Boston MA. and entered the Bay City Tournament. Austin won Gold in the IJF 81kg. division and Brandon won Gold in the IJF 55kg. division. The Yorkville Judo Club is the oldest club in the Fox Valley Area with a rich heritage of producing over 250 National and 27 International medalist.
